About the role

Job Description Summary

The Senior Project Director will support the planning and execution of the contract for the design and build of GEs BWRX-300, the first ever Small Modular reactor to be built in Canada. This will include managing the quality, cost, schedule, risk, and stakeholder engagement of the entire execution process.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for on-time project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources.
  • Work closely with senior customer leadership.
  • Manage all commercial aspects of the project portfolio and ensure performance against all financial metrics.
  • Organize project cost structure in Oracle ERP
  • Accountable for overall project management strategy; interfaces & cooperates with all project management functions within Advanced Reactor Project Office and with supplier PMO.
  • Accountable for development and issuance of the Project Management Plan & related project plans and project procedures; promotes the implementation of project plans and project procedures across the larger project team.
  • Lead the development and deployment of project infrastructure and project tools.
  • Ensure compliance with U. S. government requirements.
  • Identify and communicate project resources demands and coordinate resource supply within a matrix organization, particularly with Engineering.
  • Support coordination of all project activities; monitor and control progress on deliverables.
  • Ensure performance against all schedule metrics, particularly on-time delivery.
  • Ensure the conformance of project deliverables with contract and project requirements; supports the resolution of technical and quality issues during execution of the work scope.
  • Ensure that all project operations are carried out in accordance with the applicable procedures and any applicable customer and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate & chair regular project meetings with customer teams, internal team, and/or supplier teams; prepares supporting materials for such project meetings
  • Develop and manages integrated project schedule with key suppliers, specifically the Management Control Schedule; leverages schedule system reports, utilizing performance information to evaluate project schedule performance.
  • Leverage internal work force planning tools in P6 ERP
  • Prepare and organizes project correspondence, coordinating response drafts, approving, and issuing final letters consistent with project communication plan; ensures adequate communication to all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure archiving of project correspondence with Project Configuration Management Plan
  • Lead, draft, and issue project management meeting notes, action items and progress reports.
  • Perform production oversight of key suppliers.
  • Support risk assessment and risk management program
  • Be responsible for project risk management processes and developing and implementing project controls processes and tools.
  • Ensure invoicing is assembled in accordance with the contract terms and government requirements.
  • Oversee engineering progression through conceptual to final design.
  • Manage procurement of long lead items
  • Maintain an onsite presence working closely with construction management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a regionally accredited college, university, or equivalent.
  • 10 years of project management experience on large power EPC projects (design, construction, commissioning)
  • 5 years power plant design experience
  • 10 years of nuclear industry experience, including construction experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience or familiarity with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR)
  • Ability to function collaboratively in an IPD construct
  • Scheduling software experience (Project, P3, P6, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the power industry, customer, and competitive environment
  • Experience in power plant construction
  • Demonstrated ability in meeting project budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Contract management & claim experiences
  • Cost estimating experience.
  • Financial control knowledge and understanding
  • Demonstrated professional interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Oversees initiatives of substantial scope and impact
  • Ability to manage multiple project responsibilities concurrently.
  • Extreme attention to detail, follow up, highly organized.
  • PMP certification
