Are you passionate about the employee experience and connecting corporate strategy to cultural transformation? As an integral member of Lockheed Martin Canada’s Communications team, this role will support employee and leader communications, designing, executing, and measuring strategic internal communication initiatives that strengthen culture, employee engagement, and alignment with Lockheed Martin’s mission.
This is a full time position based in Ottawa, Ontario, with hybrid and flexible work schedule options. In office requirement is two days per week, primarily at Lockheed Martin Canada’s Kanata facility and occasionally at Lockheed Martin Canada’s downtown Ottawa office. In office presence for key employee events is also required.
Candidate should be skilled at developing relationships and will be expected to form strong partnerships with colleagues and functional stakeholders across the corporation to provide the most effective communications strategies and approaches supporting employee communications.
Primary Responsibilities :
The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, with a keen storytelling ability for internal audiences.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute an annual employee communications plan aligned to corporate strategy with incremental quarterly/monthly priorities.
- Develop and execute leader communications rhythms, supporting Lockheed Martin Canada’s business area leaders and the flow down of key information.
- Translate overarching business objectives into tailored communications at the site level across all Lockheed Martin Canada facilities.
- Own a portfolio of high‑impact internal communications programs (examples include: Employee Spotlights, Employee Brand Ambassadors, Leadership Voices, All Hands, Town Halls, etc.)
- Optimize content discoverability, page analytics, and engagement metrics to deliver actionable insights to leaders and stakeholders.
Content & Storytelling
- In partnership with Lockheed Martin Canada’s creative services team, produce high‑quality written, audio, and visual assets for internal channels, including but not limited to intranet stories, newsletters, e‑mails, video scripts, podcasts, digital screens and interactive infographics.
- Write and prepare leader talking points, memos, Q/As, and video scripts.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to distill complex technical or operational concepts into accessible narratives.
- Ensure all content adheres to Lockheed Martin’s Brand Guidelines, tone‑of‑voice, and confidentiality protocols.
Internal Event & Campaign Coordination
- Plan and execute culture‑building events like town halls, employee volunteer initiatives, STEM student engagement, employee recognition and celebration events.
- Leverage and facilitate employee-generated content (photos, testimonials, videos, interviews) to amplify impact and authenticity.
- Manage logistics, timelines, budgets, and post‑event ROI analytics.
Measurement & Analytics
- Track key performance indicators (KPI) such as email open rates, video views, intranet traffic, and engagement scores from pulse surveys.
- Provide quarterly dashboards to leadership; recommend adjustments to improve effectiveness.
- Gather qualitative feedback through focus groups and one‑on‑one interviews.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with global employee communications stakeholders to align and localize corporate-wide communications for Canadian employees.
- Partner with business area employee communications stakeholders to align and localize business area-specific communications for Canadian employees.
- Partner with key functions to align, plan and track functional and site communications (HR, Security, Facilities, IT) ensuring a consistent brand voice and driving increased employee awareness and effective calls to action.
- Attend cross‑functional meetings and provide communication expertise.
What you bring to the role
Required skills, qualifications and experience :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in communication or marketing discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
- 4 - 6 years of professional experience; or 2 - 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
- Experience in internal communications preferably in a large organization
- Exceptional writing ability and attention to detail, adherence to AP Style
