Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Patient Transport Supervisor, the Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the activity of the Porters. The Coordinator provides leadership and direction for the patient transportation staff and assists in ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures relating to the department. Specific tasks include:
- Documents & dispatches all incoming calls as applicable
- Assigns work, modifies existing schedules to respond to emerging needs and relative priorities; prioritizes assignments during peak demand periods and emergencies; integrates last minute requests for service with pre-scheduled activities
- Actively promotes a strong customer service culture to all team members
- Monitors service quality, investigates patient, visitor, & staff incidents and recommends corrective action as directed
- Participates in the selection process of new departmental staff as required
- Counsels and course corrects staff as necessary to ensure departmental performance standards and objectives are met consistently; recognizes staff achievement
- Directs staff as in prioritizing work assignments while encouraging them in responding quickly and courteously
- Experience working in teams with a shared purpose in collaborating with partners to enhance the patient experience.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills:
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma required
- Experience in investigating and solving complaints and service disruptions
- Recent related patient transport dispatcher/porter experience strongly preferred
- Computer literate (MS Office); also good keyboarding and data entry skills.
- Previous experience with an electronic transport-tracking system and related electronic communication systems is an important asset.
- Experienced in the collection and analyzation of performance data
- Demonstrated strong customer focus; excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and experience building business relationships
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail required, while multitasking in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills (presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written) with the goal of influencing outcomes.
