About the Job:

The Coeur Silvertip mine located in British Columbia, just 10 miles south of the Yukon border is seeking a Senior Environmental Coordinator (Term) to work in a camp based environment rotating on a 2 week on and 2 weeks off schedule. This is a one-year term position.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in enforcing compliance with current permits;
  • Ensure data is collected and reported in a timely fashion;
  • Develop environmental reports;
  • Review technical documents;
  • Establish monitoring schedules and procedures to meet permit requirements and company standards;
  • Provide advice on environmental programs and practices to ensure compliance with environmental laws and permits;
  • Provide training for environmental monitoring technicians and contractors;
  • Compile and review data to identify trends and maintain site compliance;
  • Participate in the development and execution of proactive environmental projects to assist in reclamation and environmental management of the mine site;
  • Lead by example and establish a safety culture through participation in daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings;
  • Perform ongoing inspections and risk assessments to identify and address unsafe conditions or hazards in the workplace;
  • Ensure employee performance and activities follow safe processes.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, environmental science, civil engineering or environmental engineering, or related equivalent;
  • Ten (10) years of progressive experience in Environmental roles;
  • Mining, Oil and Gas or Heavy Industrial experience is preferred;
  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork and ability develop and foster strong working relationships;
  • Strong sense of integrity, ethics and desire to positively impact the environment;
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
  • Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce.

Additional Information:

  • Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
  • Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
