Coeur Mining, Inc. is a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with five wholly owned operations: the Las Chispas silver-gold mine in Sonora, Mexico, the Palmarejo gold-silver complex in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. About the Job:
The Coeur Silvertip mine located in British Columbia, just 10 miles south of the Yukon border is seeking a Senior Environmental Coordinator (Term) to work in a camp based environment rotating on a 2 week on and 2 weeks off schedule. This is a one-year term position.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in enforcing compliance with current permits;
- Ensure data is collected and reported in a timely fashion;
- Develop environmental reports;
- Review technical documents;
- Establish monitoring schedules and procedures to meet permit requirements and company standards;
- Provide advice on environmental programs and practices to ensure compliance with environmental laws and permits;
- Provide training for environmental monitoring technicians and contractors;
- Compile and review data to identify trends and maintain site compliance;
- Participate in the development and execution of proactive environmental projects to assist in reclamation and environmental management of the mine site;
- Lead by example and establish a safety culture through participation in daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings;
- Perform ongoing inspections and risk assessments to identify and address unsafe conditions or hazards in the workplace;
- Ensure employee performance and activities follow safe processes.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, environmental science, civil engineering or environmental engineering, or related equivalent;
- Ten (10) years of progressive experience in Environmental roles;
- Mining, Oil and Gas or Heavy Industrial experience is preferred;
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork and ability develop and foster strong working relationships;
- Strong sense of integrity, ethics and desire to positively impact the environment;
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
- Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce.
Additional Information:
- Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
- Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
