About the Role: If you're passionate about fitness and enjoy helping others achieve their goals, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community. As a Part-time Aquafit Instructor, you'll lead safe, engaging and inclusive aquatic fitness classes that help participants of all ages and abilities stay active, build confidence and enjoy being part of an active community. Along the way, you'll stay active doing what you love, build connections with like-minded people who share your passion for fitness, and be part of a supportive Aquatics team. Your Team: You’ll be part of the Aquatics team and report to the Head Guard, Recreation Assistant Lead, Aquatics Coordinator, or Aquatics Supervisor. Schedule & Flexibility: Shifts typically range from 1 to 3 hours, with opportunities to work up to 24 hours per week. We'll work with you to schedule shifts that align with your availability whenever possible. What You'll be Doing: Bring energy and encouragement to every class by leading safe, engaging and inclusive Aquafit sessions that help participants of all ages and abilities stay active and work toward their fitness goals. Use your coaching and communication skills to create a welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable, supported and motivated. Design and deliver effective workouts by combining warm-ups, cardiovascular exercise, strength training, stretching and cool downs, while adapting exercises to meet different fitness levels and abilities. Create enjoyable fitness experiences by incorporating music, cueing techniques and progressive exercises that keep participants engaged and coming back. Build connections with your community by getting to know participants, answering questions and providing friendly, professional customer service. Support a safe and positive facility experience by preparing equipment, following safety procedures and responding confidently in emergency situations when required. Be part of a collaborative Aquatics team that works together to deliver programs that make a difference in the health and well-being of our community. Continue growing your skills by staying current with aquatic fitness trends, techniques and best practices. What's Required: Success in this role starts with a passion for helping others live active, healthy lives, along with: CALA, WaterART certification, and/or YMCA Aquafit Instructor Certification Course. Intermediate First Aid certification (formerly Standard First Aid), valid within three years of the date of issue. A valid Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance (issued within the past two years). Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach. Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
