Overview of role:

WestJet is currently seeking a creative and dynamic Advisor - Destination Marketing to support our Marketing team. Playing a key role, you’ll bring your creative and results orientated approach to the role to support our sales and marketing targets. You’ll develop disruptive and innovative regional campaigns that create awareness, invoke inspiration and drive sales.

The Advisor will support regional campaigns, lead the launch of new destinations, and support routes of need. They will also leverage co-operative marketing funds from hotel, airport, tourism, and attraction partners to achieve shared targets. This role plays a key part in delivering WestJet’s Strategic Plan and Marketing Objectives.

Key Deliverables Include:

  • Lead and deliver large campaigns and projects as it pertains to marketing WestJet’s destinations;

  • Partnering with key stakeholders such as tourism boards, hotels, airport authorities and attraction partners to define joint objectives and determine marketing deliverables;

    • Develop a mutually agreed upon co-op marketing program;
    • Build in flexibility to ensure we can support routes and react quickly when required;
    • Offset the cost of WestJet marketing tactics;
    • Support revenue targets for WestJet routes;
    • Track, forecast and report on all marketing spend for co-op partner campaign elements in the WestJet budget;
    • Meet with partners regularly to maintain relationships; prioritizing the strategic partners that will grow and scale with WestJet;
  • Negotiate cooperative marketing funds to support network and revenue objectives with the goal of offsetting planned marketing spend for same destination;

  • Execute large scale and targeted regional campaigns and tactical events through external and internal advertising channels;

  • Manage campaigns and projects on a strict timeline and become the subject matter expert (SME) as it relates to our Regional Marketing campaign strategy, execution, analytics, and post-mortems;

  • Proactively co-ordinate and liaise with the Manager to ensure timelines are being managed, updates are provided, proper approvals are obtained, and go-to-market plans are presented;

  • React quickly to actions of our competitors and become an expert at quick-to-market strategies in order to drive sales;

  • Represent the business unit and work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams (Brand, Channel Teams, Design, Digital, Analytics, Guest Communications, Social, Loyalty, Revenue Management and Pricing, Network Planning, IT);

  • Work closely with the Paid Media Channel team on media buying and the internal/external creative agencies to develop creative concepts and paid media plans that are effective, yet impactful;

  • Work closely with the Owned Channel team to develop campaign assets that adhere to channel best practices;

  • Measure, consolidate reporting and communicate on the success of each marketing initiative against documented objectives, campaign KPIs, etc;

  • Proactively participate in the improvement and troubleshooting of processes as they pertain to Regional Performance Marketing involvement;

  • Support Manager on continuous review of competitive analysis, internal and external market research, industry-leading destination awareness, tactical and partnership marketing;

  • Work in partnership with the Channel teams on A/B testing as outlined in the regional performance landscape;

  • Share learnings and provide support for team members. Help to provide an environment where you, your team members and your stakeholders can learn continuously;

  • Support the Manager with the development and fulfillment of partnership agreements and other tasks and projects as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree (Marketing or Communications);

  • 3-5 plus years’ experience working in a fast-paced Marketing environment with solid experience working with agencies in launching campaigns with advertising channels such as digital and traditional media (e.g. TV, radio, online display, paid search, paid social, print and out of home, etc.);

  • Strong understanding of coordination and integration with PR, contesting/promotions, experiential marketing and sponsorship teams;

  • Expert and proficient with Microsoft office programs such as (PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.);

  • Experience with Adobe Analytics considered an asset, as well as knowledge of data visualization tools;

  • Good understanding of advertising compliance is an asset;

  • Must possess excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills;

  • Solid understanding of managing marketing budgets and monthly forecasting;

  • Must be proactive, highly motivated, highly organized, energetic personality with a positive can-do attitude;

  • Ability to multi-task, move quickly and effectively and consistently perform under tight deadlines;

  • Think outside of the box and effectively bring big ideas to life, as well as have the ability to leverage insights and data to ensure continuous improvement;

  • Possess a unique ability to bridge the gap between campaign stakeholders, management, agencies, channel and creative teams;

  • A solid understanding of return on marketing investment and marketing analytics.
