Position Summary:
- Accurate collection and reporting of data to Diagnostic Imaging and the Emergency Department through EPIC,SECTRA pacs and SCM in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the administration & flow of diagnostic imaging studies for Emergency Patients and provide after-hours support to the entire hospital.
- Facilitating outpatient appointments within the Radiology department and other stakeholders as required.
- Supporting timely access to patient screening/reports and diagnostic tests along the care path.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy, and ensure release of information is in accordance with policy.
- Collection of metrics information for quality / wait time purposes.
- Arrange patient transfers both internally and externally
- Provide communication and collaborate with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Mitigate patient concerns stemming from imaging-related issues and communicate delay in exam performance,technical issues and/or reporting delays to staff and physicians.
- Identify critical cases and independently allocate appropriate resources and staffing (on-call teams)
- Communicate and document verbal reports from Radiologists to MRP and health care team, including escalating critical results when required.
- Access relevant and appropriate patient records including previous imaging and bloodwork as required
- Other duties as assigned by the Radiologists and ER physicians.
Key Qualifications:
- Completion of clerical / senior clerk training program or equivalent education and experience in a health career environment.
- Health related undergraduate degree an asset
- Previous experience in Diagnostic Imaging / Program setting an asset
- High accuracy typing skills combined with proficient computer software skills including Meditech, MSM bookings, Microsoft word & Excel and SCM
- Proven ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team in a high stress environment
- Previous experience using EPIC is considered an asset
- Proven ability to multitask and able to adapt readily to changes in workload demands.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and in writing
- Critical thinking and exceptional problem solving skills when dealing with patients, physicians, hospital staff and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organization and time management skills ensuring compliance with diagnostic imaging policy and procedures.
- High degree of professionalism and competency to function in a position requiring initiative and the ability to prioritize duties of the position with limited to no supervision.
- Patient care focused to deliver the highest quality of care to patients and families.
- Excellent attendance records required.
