The Base Supervisor (Check-ins) supports the Base Manager in overseeing daily passenger services and ground operations. This role provides direction and guidance to the Passenger Check-ins team, ensuring smooth check-in processes, accurate documentation, and exceptional customer service for both Charter and Scheduled Service flights. The position plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, coordinating logistics, and upholding Snowbird Aviation Services' safety and service standards.

Primary Responsibilities

LeadershipOperations

  • Provide daily supervision, direction, and support to Customer Service Representatives to ensure efficient check-in and boarding operations.
  • Support the Base Manager in scheduling, shift coverage, and payroll approvals when required.
  • Coordinate coverage for vacations, unscheduled flights, unplanned absences and operational changes.
  • Foster teamwork and communication through regular meetings, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure all operational and customer-facing activities align with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coverage for Base Manager / Base Supervisor–Ground Services when they are on vacation or other leave.

Passenger Services

  • Oversee the completion and accuracy of passenger check-in documentation for Charter and Scheduled Service flights.
  • Ensure on-time performance targets are met and Weight and Balance documentation for Scheduled Services is completed correctly.
  • Monitor customer flow and respond to service issues promptly, maintaining a professional and courteous environment.
  • Track and follow up on lost luggage for Charter flights with relevant teams for resolution.
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers, fostering a positive travel experience.

SafetyCompliance

  • Adhere to all Snowbird Aviation Services operational and safety standards as outlined in company manuals and training programs.
  • All personnel are encouraged to be on the alert for hazards on the job. All personnel are responsible for the prompt and diligent reporting of all observed or suspected hazards.
  • Has a demonstrated interest in the safety of all employees and the general public, and as a condition of employment, each member of this organization agrees to report all errors, irregularities, incident and accidents honestly and without fear of reprisal.

SuppliesLogistics

  • Order and maintain inventory of janitorial, aircraft cleaning, stationery, commissary, and coffee supplies, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
  • Distribute supplies to Saskatoon (YXE) departments and other Rise Air and Snowbird bases as required.
  • Ensure the passenger lounge is clean, organized, and adequately stocked for daily operations.
  • Assist the Base Manager in managing commissary supplies for small aircraft and support the In-Flight Supply Program.
  • Order and maintain stock of luggage tags for Charter customers and bases.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's mission, vision, and values.
  • Foster a team-based environment through collaborative working relationships.
  • Ensure optimal communication with all employees and internal partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all Transport Canada rules, regulations and policies.
  • Participate in approved training and special projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.

Qualifications Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum three years' progressive in a supervisory role in customer service. Aviation experience is an asset.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

  • Strong leadership skills and a hands-on, self-motivated, and demonstrated positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to hold and maintain a class 5 valid driver's license,
  • Ability to obtain RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card)
  • Highly developed Internal and External Customer Service skills
  • Ability to adjust quickly to change and events, which require quick turnaround action
  • Well organized, flexible, able to work independently, multi-task and prioritize
  • Able to meet deadlines and work flexible hours when required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Sound problem solving, decision-making, analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, troubleshooting and execution skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and tasks and execute effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) and software specific to company operations.
  • Ability to support, strengthen and enhance safety initiatives.

Working Conditions

  • Supervisory Customer Service Attendants (part-time and full-time)
  • Able to work in various conditions including office and hangar environment.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Work a variety of scheduled shifts assigned to accommodate flight schedules

Equipment Used

  • 2-way radio
  • Standard office and telecommunications equipment.

Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands

  • The majority of the work is completed in an indoor or outdoor environment.
  • Ability to work long, sometimes irregular hours.
  • Ability to lift 50 Pounds.
  • Able to prioritize and organize objectives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Must quickly adapt to changing assignments.
  • Required to act professionally and use mature judgment.
  • Ground and/or air travel required.
