Role Description The Echo Sonographer is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This position is responsible for performing high-quality echocardiograms and related ultrasound examinations, ensuring accurate image acquisition and documentation according to established protocols. Day-to-day tasks include preparing patients for procedures, operating ultrasound equipment, collaborating with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to review findings, and maintaining detailed records in the patient charting system. The Echo Sonographer also ensures equipment safety and cleanliness, follows all infection control and quality assurance processes, and supports a respectful, patient-focused clinical environment. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of cardiovascular Medicine and cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Current registration or eligibility with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in echocardiography. Certification or experience with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent radiologic credentials is an asset. Experience in Radiology or diagnostic imaging environments, including safe operation and basic maintenance of ultrasound equipment. Familiarity with Vascular ultrasound principles and techniques is preferred. Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiac Sonography program. Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to recognize and escalate urgent findings promptly. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients respectfully and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to professional ethics, patient confidentiality, and continuous learning in cardiac imaging best practices.
