Architectural Officer

The Design & Construction Branch is looking for an Architectural Officer for a term position ending May 31, 2027. The position is classified as a RÉ-04 (from $66,836 to $85,106 per annum).

JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to Senior Architect, the Architectural Officer supports the planning, design and execution of architectural projects by assisting architectural designers and senior architects in the development of construction drawings, technical specifications and design documentation.

The incumbent contributes to new construction, rehabilitation and restoration initiatives through concept designs, renderings and site analyses, and resolving technical issues; and assists in project delivery and close-out activities in alignment with the NCC’s project management standards.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in architecture as recognized by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Must possess the educational credentials required to be eligible for intern membership with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) or the Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ).

EXPERIENCE
One to three years of experience in providing architectural design services, with proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite for drafting, modeling, and visualization. Experience supporting the preparation of detailed design and construction documentation required for tendering and construction phases.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Of architectural design theories, principles, concepts and building science.

  • Of the National Building Code, standards and practices.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: English Essential.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace.
