Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Pharmacy Director in Eastern Canada to join our strategic Pharmacy Excellence team, to support the continued evolution of our nearly 300 acquired Pharmacy locations across Canada! Location: This role is remote, with frequent travel required throughout Ontario and the Maritimes, Canada, however, travel nationally will also be required at times.

Job Description As the Pharmacy Director, you will play a key leadership role in implementing and advancing clinical pharmacy services within the region as well as leading strategic initiatives related to our pharmacy and growth strategy. Your responsibilities will include working with the pharmacy strategy team to develop and implement clinical programs and pharmacy initiatives that elevate patient care and support improved productivity, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the regional District Directors and store teams to execute patient care and pharmacy initiatives.

Responsibilities People Leadership

  • Works closely with Pharmacy Strategy Team, RVP & Regional team to transition Rx operations knowledge and best practices & strategic pharmacy initiatives, enabling the RVP to own one box. Provides clinical & pharmacy expertise for the region they support.
  • Drives business impact in terms of patient/clinical outcomes, compliance/adherence, pharmacy profitability and to develop this skill in others; knowledge includes company policies and procedures and clinical quality outcomes that impact the business, as well as strong knowledge of tactical pharmacy operations.
  • Coach, empower and drive pharmacy operations through the District Directors in the region with regular district visits, coaching, and by serving as an advisor.
  • Works with stores and corporate stakeholders on issues relating to pharmacy practice and patient care including college inspections, suspected narcotic losses, medication errors and IT dispensary concerns, to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with District Directors to ensure Pharmacy and Pharmacy Manager compliance with all applicable legal, professional, and regulatory requirements.
  • Advises on pharmacy strategy, engages and empowers others, leads change, and drives results using management principles (e.g., clear communication, goal setting, action planning, change management, etc.), employee development techniques (e.g., coaching, training and identifying high performers, etc.), and relationship building (e.g., with diverse stakeholders, including across business lines and corporate executives and staff)
  • Establishes a relationship and regular meeting cadence with all District Directors to provide ongoing, reliable clinical expertise and coaching, enabling the District Directors to own their market.

Business Development

  • Support the implementation & execution of pharmacy initiatives within the company’s national strategy and serve as the face of pharmacy both internally and externally to translate strategy and educate others; Skills include interpreting information, identifying improvement opportunities, leveraging assets and talent, promoting professional development, planning talent strategy, making strategic decisions, proactively leading change, taking ownership of messages, building alliances, and protecting the brand.
  • To work effectively in project-management roles or environments where initiative, planning, design, prioritization, execution, time management, monitoring and controlling, holding others accountable, and completing work independently are critical to success.
  • Possesses both retail and pharmacy/healthcare knowledge to understand customer segments and profitability implications, learn new customer/patient populations quickly, proactively anticipate/address customer/patient needs, identify business growth opportunities, and coach others to develop this knowledge and skill.
  • Supports a culture of continuous improvement. Advocates and creates the right environment for team members to share process improvements and best practices; drives accountability for delivering on improvements.
  • Develop patient education materials and programs to improve medication adherence and conduct patient counseling sessions to ensure understanding of medication regimens.

Business Planning and Reporting

  • To inform strategy by leveraging knowledge of competition and trends in healthcare (e.g., labs, clinics, other specialty businesses, segments, global issues, etc), to develop external relationships (i.e., with local health systems/plans, insurance companies, government, employers, hospitals, regulatory agencies, professional associations, etc.,) to help identify strategically aligned business development opportunities and to keep abreast and influence rules and regulations; and to ensure operational compliance with both state and federal laws (i.e., in regards to procedures for storing and dispensing prescriptions and maintaining records, documentation, audits, licensure, etc.)
  • Provide strategies to the pharmacy teams to manage and grow the existing relationship of the business with doctors in the existing medical clinics/buildings.
  • Collaborating and actively participating with and/or in Ambassador groups as it relates to program development and best practices.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and innovations in clinical pharmacy.
  • Initiate and participate in research projects to advance clinical pharmacy practice.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy
  • Proven experience in pharmacy central operations and project/change management, with at least [5] years in a leadership role (directly or indirectly leading a team)
  • Experience managing multi-unit and/or multi-site projects
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and technology.
  • Frequent travel across regional district is necessary for the role.
