About the team
The Design and Production services team are designers, web developers, print operations and procurement specialists. The team creates documents and graphics for staff and members and maintains the Federation website and other digital projects. The Design and Production team frequently works alongside the communication team.
What you’ll do
The Senior Web Developer is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s WordPress websites while ensuring that site architecture, design, and functionality align with business goals and user needs. The developer coordinates with internal teams and external web agencies to deliver cohesive digital experiences, oversees system integrations, and ensures compliance with accessibility standards and user interface best practices. This position plays a key role in translating strategic objectives into effective web solutions that support organizational priorities.
Responsibilities include:

Collaborate stakeholders to drive daily project goals, define technical challenges, develop innovative solutions, and design effective processes.

Ensure web development by contracted web agencies align with department goals and expectations.

Monitor progress towards key deliverables, ensuring timelines and scopes are maintained.

Manage version control, testing, and deployment pipelines
-
Oversee the development of our future deployment pipeline process and/or procedures.

Guide the development of new sandbox and development environments for future application/software development, debugging and testing.

Define technical requirements and deliverables with a focus on security and privacy.

Work with stakeholders to build secure and efficient APIs and integrate third-party services
-
Implement security best practices across the stack (e.g., OAuth2, JWT, HTTPS, CORS, rate limiting).
-
Act as our in-house subject matter expert on UX/UI best practices and accessibility standards (proposed web development is WCAG compliant).
-
Work alongside internal IT staff and external developers to identify, diagnose and fix bugs and/or performance issues.

Ensure website and features are adequately optimized for different devices, platforms and browsers.

Participate and/or lead user acceptance testing and oversee the implementation of required remediation process.

Ensure consistent use of versioning tools to document approved code changes.

Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation and decision matrix.
What you’ll bring
-
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering combined with least six years of related experience developing and maintaining corporate websites, intranets and web-based applications for a medium-to-large sized organizations (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Familiarity with various tools, platforms, and development languages such as SQL, Powershell/Bash, JSON, GitHub, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Databases, and Visual Studio Code is required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

The ability to clarify complex, technical issues

Familiarity with CI/CD tools and agile project workflows

Expertise in using smart, clean and maintainable code

Commitment to detailed requirement gathering and documentation

Experience creating, testing and maintaining WordPress system integrations.

The ability to work with stakeholders across multiple business units and authority delegations. Previous experience working as part of a self-directed project team would be desirable.
