Job Description Aramark Canada is recruiting an experienced Food Service Director to oversee the operation of the University of Toronto Scarborough student dining hall.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Food Service Director will oversee the daily food service operations, support catering initiatives, and provide vision to growing the business. This position is also responsible for profitable management as a whole under contract with the University of Toronto Scarborough.
Culinary experiences and well-maintained environments are fundamental to student success.
From brain-powering ingredients to comforting flavor combinations, nutritious food doesn?t have to be boring. Salary Range $68,000-$72,000
Job Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, food preparation
- Coordinate staff on production, quality, cost control, labour, scheduling, and service
- Assist front line managers with operational and staffing issues
- Train, develop and mentor the management team and establish succession plans
- Ensure that standards for sanitation and food safety are met
- Assist in menu planning and support for catered events
- Grow catering business through marketing initiatives
- Prepare business plans, budgets and forecasts
- Monitor financial operating results to achieve company and client objectives
- Develop new initiatives and programs to improve sales and customer satisfaction
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors
- Ensure adherence to Aramark, U of T Scarborough retail franchise policies and procedures
- Ensure adherence to Aramark?s Health and Safety Programs

Qualifications Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or Business is preferred
- 5 years progressive management experience in a similar operation or franchise
- Project management or experience in hospitality start-up operations is a definite asset
- Experience in operations and logistics for catered events
- Food Safety Training is preferred, otherwise willingness to complete
- Strong analytical, project planning, and financial management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, colleagues and staff
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to influence with impact at all levels
