About the role
Director, Information Management & Information Technology Permanent/Full-time Responsibilities The Director is a valued member of the Sooke School District leadership team and responsible for providing strategic direction for the district's information management (IM) and information technology (IT) department, including developing and implementing corporate policies, standards, and guidelines. The Director manages the district-wide data frameworks, ensures information security and privacy, leads IT investment priorities, and promotes digital literacy across the organization. The Director, Information Technology is a strategic leader responsible for technology systems and services across the school district ensuring secure, efficient, and innovative use of technology to enhance learning and operational excellence. Leading a team of 15 staff comprised of 4 excluded and 11 bargaining unit positions the ideal candidate will:

And Have The Required Education And Experience Noted Below
- Masters' or Bachelors' Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, and/or Business Administration or related field
- Certification in ITIL, an asset, and/or knowledge in ITIL principles and procedures
- Certification in a minimum of two (2) of the following areas: network administration, data base administration, system engineering, BPR or similar, or Microsoft certified systems engineer
- Minimum five (5) years of recent and progressive technology senior level leadership experience demonstrating the following:
- Overseeing information systems, technology architectures, project management, service management and systems design
- implementing cybersecurity strategy and enterprise risk management protocols
- ensuring compliance with privacy legislation including Ministry FOIPPA requirements
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in leading and supervising staff in a unionized environment
- Preference may be given the candidates with experience in a public sector environment, particularly within the education sector
