Your role
Based in Calgary, you will operate independently to research, gather, package and present content for television, as well as radio and digital platforms.
You must be a creative thinker who brings original ideas and treatments. You must also be able to take initiative, think on your feet in the field and exercise good judgment.
You will be assigned primarily to the ICI RDI news network and must be available to travel. Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canada programming policies and Journalistic Standards and Practices.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Three (3) years’ direct experience, including at least one (1) year’s proven experience reporting in the field for television.
Skills:
- Relevant experience filing stories and delivering live hits.
- Proven field skills and knowledge of broadcasting.
- Knowledge of social, political, cultural and economic life, as well as the key players, in Alberta.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure.
- Creative, enterprising and inquisitive approach to fact-gathering.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment while being a resourceful self-starter.
- Strong teamwork ethic and attitude.
- Solid command of spoken and written French (working language) and outstanding spelling and grammar.
- Advanced oral proficiency, intermediate writing proficiency and advanced reading proficiency in English, an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence and a driving record that meets the criteria of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company.
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and Journalistic Standards and Practices.
