About the role

The Senior Bookkeeper plays a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of a multi-unit restaurant group. The office location is downtown Toronto and full time in the office.

This role owns the full cycle of bookkeeping — from transaction-level accuracy through to year-end financial statement preparation — ensuring books are accurate, well-organized, and audit-ready.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working both collaboratively and in a self-directed way across multiple business entities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key duties and responsibilities: ● Full-cycle bookkeeping for our various businesses, including AP, AR, and general ledger maintenance ● Ensuring accurate recording of sales, cost of goods sold, labour, and other operational expenses ● Maintaining organized, accurate financial records and supporting related administrative functions ● Preparing weekly and monthly financial statements ● Preparing year-end financial statements and working papers in conjunction with our external CPA team, acting as the primary point of contact for audit/review requests, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules ● Processing payroll and gratuities accurately and on schedule ● Performing regular bank and account reconciliations, including ensuring consistency and tie-out between the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement ● Implementing and maintaining internal controls for purchasing, inventory, cash handling, disbursements, POS transactions, time records, and key access ● Supporting vendor and lessor account management, including invoice review and reconciliation against contracts and leases ● Handling HR-related administrative tasks such as employee on/off-boarding paperwork and issuing ROEs ● Handling office administration tasks such as maintaining security code and key logs, contacting internet and phone service providers ● Ensuring timely and accurate filing of HST, WSIB, T4 statements, and other year-end tax
