Temporary External Posting C25262626 čɛpθ District Indigenous Culture & Student Support Worker qathet School District is seeking a čɛpθ (District Indigenous Culture & Student Support Worker) to join the team, 30.0 hours per week, until the return of incumbent, further notice or June 30, 2026.

Under the direction of the School Principals and District Principal of Indigenous Education, and in cooperation with the Indigenous communities, provides cultural and ʔayʔajuθəm (Tla'amin) language instruction in collaboration with classroom teacher. Intervention strategies to assist Indigenous students to improve academic and social emotional success and enrich their school experiences. Preference will be given to candidates with Indigenous Ancestry.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Minimum secondary school graduation or equivalent. Preferred post-secondary training.
  • Specialized training in education, counselling, family assistance, childcare work, behaviour management, or social work.
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, ʔayʔajuθəm language, heritage, and spirituality.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain respect for and from students.

Salary and Application Details This is a unionized CUPE Local 476 position. It offers an hourly wage rate of $32.81 per hour. The schedule is Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. This position will begin as soon as possible.
