Day Shifts: 0700-1500,0800-1600, 0900-1700

Pay Band: Band-FF $26.46-$29.31

Location: Hotel Dieu Hospital Site

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Endoscopy Assistant reprocesses endoscopic scopes and instruments after endoscopic procedures.

Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the KHSC strategy. As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs routine reprocessing of scopes as required. Works closely with the MDR department to prioritize scope reprocessing and transferring scopes based on procedural needs of the unit.

  • Transferring patients to/from unit as required.

  • Assists in maintaining the general tidiness and safety of the work area by turning over rooms, by stocking patient care supplies, removing and disposing of equipment and supplies as appropriate or directed.

  • Reports any unusual occurrences, symptoms or happenings to the Manager or delegate promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 diploma.

  • Completion of the MDRAO within last two years or equivalent combination of recent education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, oral and written.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection control, medical terminology, decontamination, aseptic technique, hospital supplies and distribution system.

  • Ability to work and relate well with other staff.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and self-directed

  • Proven ability to follow instructions accurately, problem solve workload priorities, multi-task and cope with interruptions.

  • 80% grade on a demonstrated Pre-test.

  • Proven ability to attend work regularly.

  • Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
