About the role
Purpose:
The Program Office Assistant is responsible for providing support to the undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Kinesiology and Health Science. including answering general inquiries on programs, policies, procedures and degree requirements and maintaining student and program files. Act as a resource person to faculty, students. to provide secretarial/clerical assistance for various administrative processes within the School.
Education:
High School plus completion of some post-secondary courses in office administration/secretarial training.
Experience:
1 year of administrative experience in an academic School/Department
Skills:
Knowledge of degree and program requirements. knowledge of academic administrative processes. proficiency with on-line student records system (SIS) or a similar on-line database. MS Office Word (intermediate level). Excel (intermediate level). e-mail and calendar software (e.g. Outlook). Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. effective oral communication skills to elicit and provide accurate information in a clear and concise manner including active listening. ability to exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and initiative. ability to source and summarize information. effectiveness in attending accurately to details. excellent organizational skills. ability to deal courteously and effectively with people. work independently as well as an effective member of a team.
