Position Description
Reporting directly to the Fabrication Design Lead and working in close collaboration with the BIM Team Lead, the Tekla Asset Manager plays a pivotal role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the Tekla Structures environment within MMT. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of our models, data, and workflows for Tekla Structures, supporting the seamless execution of mass timber projects from early design through fabrication approval and construction.
The Tekla Asset Manager is a key resource for the development and refinement of Tekla Structures within MMT, ensuring that all stakeholders have the necessary tools, training, and support to maximize its effectiveness. You will be directly involved in maintaining the Tekla suite and its associated data, but also identifying opportunities to improve MMT modeling processes, enhance collaboration, and leverage Tekla Structures to its fullest potential across the entire project lifecycle.
The Tekla Asset Manager will be responsible for leading Tekla Structures developments, evaluating new features and workflows, and implementing best practices to ensure our team remains highly proficient and competitive.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize the Tekla Structures environment, including software, licenses, configurations, and project data.
- Develop, manage, and maintain Tekla Structures components, custom connections, and user-defined objects to enhance modeling efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to Tekla Structures users, including designers, engineers, fabricators, and contractors.
- Enforce BIM standards, workflows, and best practices within Tekla Structures to ensure data integrity and collaboration across project teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Tekla Structures issues, including modeling errors, drawing production problems, and data management challenges.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and implement Tekla Structures solutions that meet project-specific requirements and optimize fabrication and construction processes.
- Evaluate and implement new Tekla Structures features, tools, and technologies to improve modeling capabilities and workflows.
- Develop and maintain Tekla Structures templates, settings, and configurations to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Manage Tekla Structures project setups, including multi-user environments, reference models, and collaboration tools.
- Automate repetitive tasks and develop custom tools or scripts using the Tekla Open API to improve productivity and reduce errors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in structural modeling and CAD drafting, with a strong focus on Tekla Structures, including at least 2 years in a dedicated Tekla Asset Manager or similar role.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in the delivery of structural projects, with a proven track record in managing Tekla Structures environments for mass timber or steel construction projects.
- Advanced computer skills with expert knowledge of Tekla Structures, including advanced modeling, drawing production, customization, multi-user collaboration, and project setup.
- Strong understanding of BIM principles, workflows, and collaboration processes, with practical experience in implementing and enforcing BIM standards within Tekla Structures.
- Experience with scripting or automation within Tekla Structures (e.g., Tekla Open API) is considered a significant asset.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy, and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve Tekla-related issues.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively, including managing Tekla licenses, configurations, and project data.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, with experience in providing Tekla training and support MMT delivering projects efficiently.
- Proficiency in other BIM software, such as Revit, and CAD work, are considered assets.
Salary & Benefits
- The salary for this position is CAD $85,000 – CAD $105,000. Salary will be commensurate with demonstrated education and experience.

- RRSP – We provide a competitive RRSP contribution plan, with base contributions made by Mercer which can be supplemented with personal contributions matched by the company up to a certain %.
