Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior/Intermediate Utility Coordinator to join our dynamic Utilities team in West Toronto, located at 175 Galaxy Blvd. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop their skills in utility coordination while playing a key role in transformative transportation projects.

In this role, you will support planning, design, and coordination phases for utility relocations involving gas, hydro, telecom, water and wastewater infrastructure. You will work closely with senior team members, gaining exposure to reviewing utility data, assessing subsurface utility engineering (SUE) work, engaging with utility companies, and solving utility challenges.

Role Accountabilities:
As a Junior/Intermediate Utility Coordinator, you will assist in:

Utility Coordination and Communication:

  • Supporting the coordination of communication between the project team and utility providers.
  • Assisting in organizing and documenting meetings with utility companies to gather information on existing and planned infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with senior team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on utility-related activities.

Utility Design and Planning:

  • Preparing basic CAD drawings for preliminary designs involving dry and wet utilities.
  • Contributing to designs for utility relocations and protection strategies under supervision.
  • Assisting in the development of construction staging designs and quantity take-offs.

Technical Review and Analysis:

  • Reviewing and organizing utility data provided by design teams, consultants, and utility providers.
  • Assisting in the validation of SUE deliverables and identifying gaps for senior review.
  • Supporting field verification activities, such as utility exposure or surveys.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintaining accurate records of utility coordination activities, including meeting minutes and correspondence.
  • Preparing initial drafts of reports and updates for senior review.
  • Supporting cost estimation and quantity take-offs for budgeting and planning.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in utility coordination or related roles in Metrolinx, MTO, or municipal projects.
  • Exposure to design software such as Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley products (MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

The salary range for this position is $66,000 - $99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
