**Location:**Edmonton Research Park facility| Work Model: On-site

The Opportunity

The Occupational Health Nurse’s clinical role includes clinical nursing, first aid and emergency care, ongoing medical treatments, crisis intervention, counselling and support to employees on individual health issues with referrals to appropriate external and internal resources. It is accountable for promoting occupational health programming and services encouraging workplace health and wellness. The position is also responsible for the coordination of the disability management, modified work, and corporate wellness programs.

This position is responsible for providing coverage for approximately one to two shifts per month and may be required to participate in on call scheduling. Additional shift coverage may be required during the summer months based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for duties that will include:

  • Conduct employee health screenings and assessments (e.g., ergonomic checks, blood pressure, legislated health assessments).
  • Provide health counselling, education, and referrals for employees as needed.
  • Deliver first aid and emergency response for workplace illnesses or injuries.
  • Support health education initiatives, including preparing fact sheets or presentations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records in accordance with FOIP and OHS legislation.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance of first aid supplies and emergency equipment (e.g., AEDs).
  • Assist with wellness initiatives and programs that promote physical, mental, and organizational well-being.
  • Provide basic support for disability management activities (e.g., communication with employees and HR, tracking documentation).
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and offer related guidance to employees.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • At least 5 years nursing experience.
  • Proficient in health and nursing knowledge and skills, emergency care and employee/ client relation.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Human Rights legislation, and Collective Agreement.
  • Membership with College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).
  • Client relations focused with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to handle stress and remain calm.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic and changing environment, while remaining organized.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Good MS Office skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel between sites as required.
