You’re an experienced digital storyteller who knows how to take facts and information and transform them into engaging and inspiring content to steward and cultivate donors. Your content is impeccable – flawlessly edited for style, grammar and brand alignment – but you never stop analyzing and optimizing to ensure objectives are met. That’s because you’re also a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of the donor lifecycle and you want to contribute to a team committed to improving satisfaction, increasing retention and enhancing lifetime value. You are organized, process-oriented, excel at time management and can juggle competing priorities. A team player, you’re a relationship-builder who thrives on working with multiple stakeholders in a matrix environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:**

  • Collaborate in & manage the content development, execution, optimization and expansion of the national Mass Marketing stewardship program across the donor lifecycle to improve retention and support a best-in-class donor experience
  • Create engaging and effective content to support stewardship, cultivation, and fundraising tactics across products, segments, and channels, with a focus on digital
  • Support the audience stewardship strategy by customizing content for a segment-first approach, and proactively identifying audience-specific opportunities or gaps
  • Manage production and fulfillment of print communications, including monitoring inventory levels, coordinating reprints, and working closely with the fulfillment house throughout the print production process (troubleshooting and transferring data, reviewing print proofs and lives, etc.) to ensure timely delivery of print communications to donors
  • Manage and coordinate internal content development processes including translation, as well as providing support for the build, testing and deployment of stewardship tactics with cross-functional implementation and execution teams
  • Monitor stewardship communication performance analytics and contribute to the recommendation of strategies to improve engagement
  • Act as a team subject-matter expert on the stewardship experience, with a keen awareness and understanding of the donor lifecycle, including maintenance of internal lifecycle and communications resources
  • Support the strategic development and/or adaptation of donor communications for specific segments and products, with consideration for the overall donor lifecycle and experience
  • Support the development and implementation of new strategies to improve retention, including strategic content development and ongoing performance monitoring of new initiatives/communications
  • Provide creative input, review, and editing throughout the content development process across stewardship channels and programs, including direct mail, digital, and video tactics
  • Demonstrate project management excellence and identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline resources, and improve operational effectiveness
  • Build key internal relationships across CCS to support the streamlined development of stewardship communications, including content verification and approvals, as well as to source content opportunities, facts and statistics
  • Provide project management and administrative support to the Donor Communications and Stewardship team, including acting as a backup for the team as needed
  • Contribute to the content development of new Mass Marketing initiatives
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, and comply with the Canadian Cancer Society’s Health & Safety Policy
  • Contribute to our culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity (DIBE) by ensuring that all staff feel represented, valued, and heard across all aspects of their identity, including gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, and sexuality.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising and/or stewardship communications in a not-for-profit organization, with a focus on digital
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in fundraising, marketing or communications
  • Demonstrated experience developing content for a variety of channels/tactics, with well developed instincts for effective emotional storytelling – and a strong portfolio to share

  • Experience creating successful donor stewardship communications that drive retention and revenue growth
  • Experience working with and developing variable/dynamic content for different audience segments and products
  • Experience working with print fulfillment houses and managing print production and fulfillment for mailed communications
  • Proven track record for monitoring and reporting on communication performance to drive results

About Canadian Cancer Society

Non-profit Organizations
1001-5000

What does it take to take on cancer? It takes all of us.

We all know the saying ‘It takes a village.’ But to take on cancer, it takes more than a village. We believe it takes a society. It takes a community – of patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, researchers, advocates, donors, supporters and volunteers – rallying together around a shared cause.

Profound impact is possible when we combine our actions with the actions of others. Our goal at the Canadian Cancer Society is to inspire people of all ages, from all backgrounds and all parts of the country to come together to take on cancer’s biggest issues.

Nothing big gets solved by one person. To take on cancer, it takes all of us. It takes a society. 💛
