Job Description: About The Role Finning Canada is seeking a commercially driven Head of Sales, Oil Sands to lead our sales strategy and strategic account planning across the mining division. This senior role is central to how we engage with leading Oil Sands producers—delivering tailored solutions that drive performance, enhance safety, and create long-term value.
You will lead a high-performing team to deliver revenue and margin objectives across our mining portfolio, with a strong focus on strategic account management in the Oil Sands. This includes driving opportunity development, cultivating long-term customer relationships, and ensuring alignment between technology-enabled solutions and client priorities.
Success in this role requires navigating complex commercial environments, expertly negotiating high-value contracts, and applying a strategic mindset that connects customer needs with innovative offerings.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Develop and execute the sales strategy for Finning’s mining division, aligned with corporate goals and market dynamics.
- Lead multi-year account planning based on customer mine plans, equipment lifecycle strategies, and value-added services.
- Drive achievement of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets for mining equipment, services, and technology.
Customer & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain strong multi-level relationships with key mining customers, Caterpillar, and strategic partners.
- Lead negotiations for major mining contracts, ensuring alignment with financial, operational, and ESG objectives.
- Champion Finning’s safety culture and promote Caterpillar Safety Solutions across mining operations.
Technology & Innovation
- Integrate autonomous systems, fleet management, and real-time analytics into commercial offerings.
- Collaborate with internal and Caterpillar technology teams to align product roadmaps and innovation goals with customer needs.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial sectors, with a strong focus on strategy and execution.
- Proven success in strategic business planning, contract negotiation, and customer relationship management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations, make high-impact decisions, and solve multifaceted challenges.
- Deep understanding of mining operations, equipment lifecycle management, and emerging digital technologies.
- Expertise in mining economics, deal structuring, and profitability optimization.
- Strategic thinker with advanced forecasting, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Skilled in cross-functional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and building high-performing teams.
