JOB SUMMARY:

The Admitting Clerk – Inpatient Registration is responsible for patient registration function in the Inpatient Registration Department. Other duties include: receiving and directing clients, visitors and the public; collecting and processing data required for the admission of patients; and communicating effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, family members and other visitors; may be required from time to time to collect statistical data for analysis; may be required to handle staffing needs in the event of sick calls, etc. The Admitting Clerk – Inpatient Registration complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic computer literacy – required (MS Windows )

Excellent interpersonal communication skills – required;

Bilingualism – preferred;

Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position.

EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:

Grade 12 education – required

Medical Terminology – required (will be tested)
