About the role
Personal Support Workers are the heart of home healthcare.
At Stay at Home Nursing, our Personal Support Workers help people live safely, comfortably, and with dignity in their own homes. We are building a stronger future for homecare — one where PSWs are respected professionals with real career growth, fair compensation, and genuine support.
If you are a PSW who wants meaningful work, a team that has your back, and a career — not just a shift — we want to meet you.
What You'll Do
As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will provide one-to-one care to clients in their homes — supporting their health, comfort, and independence every day.
- Provide personal care and hygiene assistance
- Support mobility, transfers, and safe movement — including mechanical lifts
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when required
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
- Monitor client wellbeing and report changes in condition to the care team
- Follow individualized care plans and document care activities accurately
- Support clients with light household tasks related to their care
- Accompany clients during outings or appointments when required
Every visit is different. The goal is always the same: helping clients live well at home.
What the Work Actually Feels Like
This role matters — and it's also real work. Here's what to expect:
- You will travel between client homes within your local community
- You will provide one-to-one home care in clients' private residences — working independently with the support of a professional care team
- Schedules include days, evenings, weekends, and overnights depending on your availability and client needs
- Mileage is paid for all travel between clients during your shift
- Many of our PSWs tell us the most rewarding part of this role is the meaningful relationships they build with clients and families
We know homecare is demanding. That's exactly why we focus on building an environment where Personal Support Workers feel supported — not left to figure it out alone.
Qualifications
We welcome experienced Personal Support Workers and individuals building a career in healthcare:
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate or approved equivalent
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle

At Stay at Home Nursing, we help individuals and families deal with ageing, chronic conditions, and medical recovery — all from the comfort of their own homes.
We understand that each healthcare journey is deeply personal, and there's no place safer, more dignified, personalized or comfortable as our own home.

And this vital role of homecare in our healthcare system can only thrive when our caregivers experience their own personal growth and learning. With continual education, development, and certification, we ensure that caregiving is a rewarding career opportunity rather than a temporary job.
In turn, we must provide fair and equitable compensation for the valuable skills and certifications our caregivers possess.
