Digital Production Specialist, Haskayne School of Business
About the role
The Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Digital Production Specialist for approximately 12 months.
The Digital Production Specialist at the Haskayne School of Business (HSB) reports to the Director, Marketing & Communications, and is a key member of the Marketing, Communications and Recruitment team. This position works closely with departmental peers and collaborates with colleagues across the HSB and the University of Calgary.
The Digital Production Specialist supports the School's strategic plan, business objectives and recruitment goals through direct email marketing, digital content production, and evaluation of campaigns and asset performance. This role drives the HSB's digital presence and brand awareness by executing targeted digital marketing initiatives and creating compelling content for web, social media and other digital platforms.
The position contributes to major initiatives and events that build awareness for HSB's academic programs, drive recruitment, and promote student and community engagement. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong time and project management skills, the ability to manage high volumes of work during peak periods driven by deadlines, priorities and the academic calendar.
The role demands a proactive, self-starter capable of independent decision-making. The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver successful outcomes for diverse stakeholders is essential.
Due to operational requirements, the role is predominantly on-campus. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. (35 hours per week); however, flexibility is essential, including some evening and weekend hours. This position is a member of the AUPE Collective Bargaining Unit.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Email Production:
- Build, test, and deploy accurate, timely and relevant direct email campaigns and internal newsletters using Marketo, SharePoint, HTML emails via Outlook and Slate CRM
- Create/design or modify email campaigns including design layout and production
- Manage email content and coordinate reviews and approvals
- List management for email campaigns for a variety of 3rd party lists including prospective students, recruitment leads, faculty, staff, donors and alumni
- Email scheduling and functionality testing and QA/QC
- Performance tracking and metrics to identify areas for enhancement and efficiencies
- Create digital banners or other images in Canva/Photoshop for use in email marketing campaigns and digital marketing
Digital Production:
- Create and execute digital assets for web, video, social media, email marketing, and digital marketing and ensure technical compatibility across platforms and browsers
- Familiar with Adobe Premiere or similar for video asset editing
- Adobe After Effect for animation creation
- Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and/or Canva
- Some experience with web content management systems for example Drupal is considered an asset
- Some experience with customer relationship management systems for example Slate/Salesforce - is considered an asset
Performance Tracking & Other:
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of email campaigns/asset performance to make data-driven recommendations and implement proactive changes to ensure continuous improvement
- Maintain archive of statistics and campaign information on which to base future decisions
- Perform additional duties as required to support the Marketing, Communications & Recruitment team and the broader goals of the Haskayne School of Business.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- A university degree in a related field, such as business, marketing, or communications
- A minimum of five years of technical experience in digital marketing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset
- Strong technical and project management skills together with a strong attention to detail
- Remaining at the forefront of current digital production methods and awareness of tools and trends is paramount
- Demonstrated expertise in creating compelling communication and marketing pieces for a wide variety of internal and external audiences using multiple digital communication vehicles
- Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-based applications
- HTML skills and knowledge of Marketo, Dialog Insight, SharePoint, HTML Editor and Slate CRM or other CRM is an asset
- Experience with Drupal, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver), and with a web content management system (CMS)
- Video editing (Adobe Premier or similar) and animation creation (Adobe After Effects) are considered assets
- Ability to gather and analyze performance metrics
- Exercising leadership and good judgment in a changeable environment is required
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment on multiple concurrent projects while maintaining positive relationships with partners and stakeholders is required
- Ability to anticipate and prioritize deadlines and timelines related to the promotion and execution of events is required. Must have ability to manage multiple complex tasks under pressure with accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels, and with design, web, and digital communications
- Observing ethical principles in keeping with the University's mission and values and in accordance with other professional standards as well as Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation is required
