As the Team Lead Recreation Facilities, you will provide leadership and direction to unionized staff responsible for the daily operation of multipurpose recreation complexes. Primary duties include:
- Manage staffing functions including onboarding, performance management including coaching, training, development, evaluation, investigation and discipline.
- Manage partner relationships and ensure compliance on lease terms with sport and recreation organizations within complex.
- Lead and participate in operational committees implementing Business Unit policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
- Manage escalated customer concerns (politically sensitive nature).
- Provide immediate response to complex-based staff and public emergency situations, critical incidents, security and facility breaches.
- Collect and verify information and conduct investigation to complete forms such as: Worker's Compensation Board (WCB), Incident Reports, Spill Release Reports, Near Miss Reports,).
- Complete and compile monthly budget variance reports and review various data sources to ensure operations are within budget.
- Participate in activities for lifecycle projects related to the facilities.
- Set direction for programs and services based on facility utilization, demographics and trends
Qualifications
- A completed 2 year diploma with at least 7 years of experience, OR;
- A degree with at least 5 years of experience.
- Your experience must include the following:
- Managing staffing functions: onboarding, coaching, performance management and day to day staff supervision.
- Functional leadership within an arena, aquatics, leisure centre and/or field house operational setting, including operations, facilities, human resources, internal/external partner relationships, and vendor management.
- Recreation facility operations, including arenas, field houses, aquatics and multi-recreation facilities.
- Customer service.
- Financial acumen and budgeting.
- Recreation programming experience including management of large bookings and special events.
- Success in this role requires strong communication, leadership, initiative, strategic decision-making and partner relationship skills.
- Pool Operator 1 & 2 and Arena Operator 1 & 2 certifications will be considered assets.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Business Unit: Recreation and Social Programs
Union: Exempt
Position Type: 1 Permanent
Compensation: Level M1 $115,627 - 144,534 per annum
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Location: 2808 Spiller Road SE
