Job Overview

Provide prompt and courteous food and beverage service to guests during banquet and catering functions, ensuring guest satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous manner according to the banquet event order; time the service of courses to match the guests’ dining pace.
  • Perform pre- and post-shift side work, including setup and preparation of condiments and equipment.
  • Clear tables after service; remove trays of dishes, silverware, and glassware to the kitchen for cleaning.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and special requests promptly and professionally; notify a supervisor of guest complaints or unusual situations.
  • Clear rooms at the end of banquets, return all props and centerpieces to storage, and properly store reusable goods.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of function spaces, and plating of meals as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, following all company and Marriott brand standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Basic reading and writing skills required.
  • Food service experience with general knowledge of banquet operations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Handle, carry, or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds (tables, chairs, trays, etc.).
  • Remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Move about function areas.
  • Bend, stoop, and kneel as required.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills when interacting with guests, cooks, wait staff, and supervisors.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or valid food handler card as required by local regulations.
  • Reading and writing abilities used for orders and paperwork.
  • Basic math skills used frequently.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
