About the role
Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Program Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of secretarial and administrative support to the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre. The incumbent will maintain a line of accountability to their assigned areas in matters relating to the day to day functions of the position. This position provides administrative and secretarial support to a multi-disciplinary team. These functions are undertaken consistent with the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre’s established philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures.
Experience
- Two (2) years secretarial experience in a health/medical related environment.
- Experience with medical transcription as well as medical terminology preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
- Formal training in applied office skills is required with an understanding of medical terminology.

Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to understand somewhat complex situations, determine courses of action and respond in a professional manner.
- Experience maintaining a records management system, including classifying and coding electronic and hard-copy files.
- Word processing (40 wpm) and excellent typing and proofreading skills.
- Knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Databases and Adobe.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information using a balanced, unbiased approach to performance of job duties including:
- The ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to maintain accuracy, organize heavy workloads under pressure, and meet deadlines while multi-tasking.
- The ability to follow directions closely and accurately, and the ability to work with initiative.
- The ability to deal effectively with the difficult behaviors sometimes exhibited by people in distress.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team.
- The ability to provide a variety of administrative duties.
