Position Overview

The Bike Valet Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, logistics, and safety compliance of BEST’s Bike Valet program. This role ensures high-quality service delivery and effective coordination of staff and equipment across all active sites. The Manager ensures efficient scheduling, team performance, and compliance. This position includes hands-on operational work and will require some weekend, evening, and late-night shift coverage, depending on program demand.

Key Responsibilities****1. Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all daily Bike Valet operations, including logistics, supplies and staffing.
  • Manage scheduling for multiple concurrent events, ensuring adequate coverage and resource distribution.
  • Conduct routine site visits to ensure safety and service quality.
  • Work flexible hours — including weekends, evenings, and late-night shifts — when operational demand requires coverage.
  • Troubleshoot real-time operational issues that could include staffing gaps, customer complaints, or equipment failures.

2. Staff Management and Development

  • Supervise and support the Supervisors, Attendants, and Volunteers.
  • Lead onboarding and staff training in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safety-oriented team culture.
  • Provide first-line support and mentorship to on-site staff during high-volume or complex events.

3. Safety, Compliance, and Training

  • Maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and BEST’s internal policies.
  • Conduct on-site safety inspections and document any hazards or incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal and venue-specific safety guidelines at all event locations.

4. Equipment and Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all Bike Valet equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics, including loading/unloading, storage, and distribution of equipment.
  • Drive and operate cargo vehicles as required to transport equipment between sites.

5. Reporting

  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly records, including attendance, bike counts, incidents, and equipment use.
  • Compile weekly operational summaries and submit them to the Program Manager.
  • Support the collection of data and feedback for annual reports, funding proposals, and strategic reviews.
  • Support marketing and outreach initiatives to promote the Bike Valet program, as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education:

    Diploma or degree in Business, Operations, Event Management, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience:

    Minimum 3-5 years of experience in operations or event management.

  • Certifications:

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (required)

  • First Aid Certification is an asset.

  • Supervisory or safety-related training (eg OHS compliance) is an asset.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Core Competencies:

  • Leadership and team management.

  • Operational problem-solving under pressure.

  • Risk mitigation and safety enforcement.

  • Excellent communication and professionalism.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be available for weekend and evening/late-night shifts as required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including setting up and moving equipment.
  • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
