This role is responsible for Innovation in Canadian Banking Engineering. It involves interacting with business and technology leaders across the bank to focus on utilizing technology & capabilities in innovative ways that are aligned to our enterprise architecture.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Lead and support the research of emerging trends & technologies, partner with various business & technology teams in the bank and identify opportunities to deliver Innovation Exploration (PoC) and production solutions.
• Act as technology & engineering advisors and enablers for Canadian Banking Engineering including research of industry trends to understand alternative approaches & solutions.
• Build strong relationships with business partners, technology partners,
stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and their teams, to facilitate collaboration.
• Take a strategic focus aligned to business priorities and bring
innovative thinking to strategic problems.
• Lead the implementation of transformative technology initiatives to enable Canadian Banking Engineering team’s success through increased efficiency, reduced cost, faster time to market.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage platform capabilities effectively, deliver future proof tech solutions and take leading role in initiatives to drive innovation & digital transformation throughout the Bank.
• Manage and ensure the successful delivery of complex projects/programs involving multiple teams from different groups across the bank, as well as external vendors when required.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM discipline
(Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Sciences,
Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering and Mathematics).
• Preferred Education: Master’s in technical disciplines such as
Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Statistics.
Relevant PhD preferred but not required.
• Strong software engineering capabilities and hands-on experience with
various machine learning and deep learning frameworks including numpy, scikit-
learn, keras, PyTorch and Tensorflow.
• Ability to write clean, understandable code that follows leading industry
standards and practices and is well-documented, and to build easily
reproducible models.
• At least 5+ years of experience in AI/ML research in industry or academic
setting.
• 3+ years of work experience as a data scientist or related field.
• In-depth knowledge of machine learning, especially deep learning
including convolutional neural networks (CNN), natural language processing
(NLP), AutoEncoder based models.
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative data and machine
learning solutions to accelerate our business.
• Possess professional working experience with Large Language Models
(LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), transformers, TensorFlow,
PyTorch and cross encoding models
• Should be familiar with recent LLMs and development frameworks, i.e.
OpenAI, Llama, Mistral, LangChain etc.
• Researching & implementing state-of-the-art LLM techniques including pre-
training, fine-tuning, preference alignment, and deployment while also
focusing on prompt engineering and generative AI more broadly
• Multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving, including excellent
interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). This includes
crisply talking about technical solutions while being able to collaborate with
business architects effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, while exhibiting high enthusiasm to
tackle complex challenges in AI/ML development and deployment.
• Create business values through productization and deployment of research
outcomes.
• Engages with internal stakeholders to understand and explore business
processes to develop hypotheses. Brings structure to requests and translates
requirements into an analytical approach.
• Collaborate with various business and operation units to identify
business opportunities and design innovative solutions to optimize processes
and promote informed decision-making.
• Excellent presentation and data visualization skills
• A keen interest in technology and continuous learning about emerging
technologies
