With a newly equipped wet chemistry laboratory and pilot facility in Delta, BC; our emerging “critical minerals innovation hub”; RecycLiCo is positioned to support new bench- and pilot-scale projects, process development, and optimization work for industry partners while advancing its proprietary battery-materials technology.
To support this growth, RecycLiCo is seeking an experienced Engineering/Technical leader to help shape both the technical roadmap and business strategy as the company expands its portfolio and industry presence.
Position Overview
RecycLiCo's SVP of Engineering will serve as the company's senior technical authority, combining strong metallurgical and hydrometallurgical expertise with a business and client focused mindset. Over the first 12 months, the mission centers on building the U.S. engineering function: standing up the bench with roles including Process Engineer, Project Engineer, and beyond, defining the engineering operating model, and establishing the standards, documentation, and IP discipline to support deployment after deployment. Core to this is translating technology to product by taking RecycLiCo's pilot validated purification and refinement process and producing a commercial scale, modular refining line design package that is engineered, costed, and ready to drop into a partner site. The role also anchors a first commercial deployment by partnering with a mining, battery, or refining operator,with , scope, design, cost, and commission the company's commercial refining facility, while carrying the engineering voice externally to government stakeholders (DOD, DOE), mining majors, refining partners, and capital sources. Beyond advancing the company's proprietary recycling technology toward commercial deployment, this key position supports the expansion of RecycLiCo's service portfolio into hydrometallurgical consulting, technology development, and broader R&D across the mining and metals sector. A critical component is building and growing a high performing technical team, mentoring engineers and scientists, and fostering a collaborative, innovative culture to support the expanding portfolio and long term growth. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in metallurgical and hydrometallurgical processing, hands on experience in process development and optimization, and pilot scale plant commissioning and operation. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, this individual will shape the company's technical roadmap and support strategic commercial and client discussions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership Serve as RecycLiCo's subject matter expert (SME), providing technical oversight and strategic direction for bench and pilot-scale process development, optimization, flowsheet development, and scale-up. Provide leadership across chemical and hydrometallurgical processes, including leaching, impurity removal, metal precipitation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, solid/liquid separation, electrochemical processes, and final product refining. Supervise test plans, scoping-level engineering designs, data analysis, and preparation of reports, technical documents, feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, PFDs, P&IDs, and mass & energy balances. Ensure compliance with safety, project deliverables, and regulatory standards across laboratory and pilot operations.
Team & Organizational Leadership
Build, mentor, structure, and grow the U.S. engineering team, spanning metallurgy/hydrometallurgy, materials science and engineering, process engineering, and analytical chemistry. Work cross-functionally with peers and other teams to ensure technical readiness and robust scale-up. Contribute to techno-economic analyses and provide recommendations to support investment and deployment decisions.
Engineering & Project Execution
Own the end-to-end engineering function for U.S. refining-facility design, build, and commissioning, translating Vancouver pilot data into commercial-scale process and facility design packages. Lead site integration with partner operators, EPC selection, vendor management, and capital project execution. Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance across U.S. operations.
Commercial & Business Support
Lead and support commercial discussions with clients, licensees, partners, and government agencies, representing RecycLiCo's technical capabilities in government, customer, partner, and investor conversations. Participate in technical due diligence, site assessments, and customer demonstrations, and present technical findings, process capabilities, and project outcomes to external stakeholders. Prepare and contribute to technical and business proposals, including project scopes, cost estimates, timelines, and resource planning. Drive business development by identifying and pursuing new client opportunities and leveraging existing industry relationships to bring potential clients to the company. Identify and propose new opportunities for internal IP development, government funding programs, collaborative research initiatives, and strategic partnerships to advance RecycLiCo's technology and business portfolio.
Candidate Requirements
Technical Qualifications MSc or PhD in Hydrometallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license is preferred
10+ years of industrial experience in critical minerals, base metals, mining, refining, chemical production, hydrometallurgical processes, battery materials or relevant fields. Proven R&D experience in hydrometallurgical or chemical processes, with a focus on technology development and scaling projects from bench to pilot scale. Demonstrated expertise in process design, development, optimization, commissioning, and operations at pilot and full-scale facilities within hydrometallurgical, mining, critical minerals, mine wastewater treatment, or metals plants. Strong understanding of metallurgical, hydrometallurgical, and chemical processes and operations, including leaching, ion exchange, metal precipitation, solid/liquid separation, advanced purification, and analytical validation, etc.
Leadership & Commercial Skills
Experience leading and managing technical teams and driving R&D or process development programs. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders. Previous exposure to business development, licensing, customer engagement, or technology commercialization. Familiarity with DOE / DOD critical-materials grants, contracting, and reporting frameworks Prior experience at a public-company or grant-funded scale-up, with a network across U.S. mining, refining, and EPC ecosystems
