PLC Programmer
About the role
PLC Programmer Wage range by experience: $45/50 Hr. Location: GTA The PLC Programmer will support manufacturing operations by developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining plant-floor automation systems, with a strong focus on Allen-Bradley PLC programming, GVOSS exposure, and Factory Information System support. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable equipment performance, accurate production data collection, real-time reporting, and continuous improvement of assembly line operations. The Factory Information System is a critical plant-floor data and reporting software used in manufacturing facilities to monitor the real-time performance of assembly lines, track production flow, analyze downtime, and identify mechanical bottlenecks that impact throughput, quality, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Program, troubleshoot, and maintain Allen-Bradley PLCs used in manufacturing and assembly operations. Support plant-floor automation systems, including PLC controls, HMI interfaces, industrial networks, and data collection systems. Work with Factory Information System software to monitor real-time production data, assembly line performance, downtime, and production flow. Analyze system data to identify mechanical bottlenecks, equipment issues, cycle time concerns, and opportunities for process improvement. Provide technical support for manufacturing equipment, controls systems, and production reporting tools. Assist with integration between PLC systems, plant-floor equipment, and manufacturing information systems. Troubleshoot automation-related issues to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability. Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives. Review and modify existing PLC logic, control programs, and system documentation as needed. Support commissioning, testing, upgrades, and validation of automation and reporting systems. Maintain accurate records of PLC changes, system updates, troubleshooting activity, and production system improvements. Ensure automation work is completed in alignment with plant safety, quality, and manufacturing standards. Qualifications Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls support in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and related automation platforms. Exposure to GVOSS or similar plant-floor manufacturing systems preferred. Experience supporting a Factory Information System, manufacturing execution system, or production reporting platform is preferred. Understanding of assembly line operations, production flow, equipment uptime, downtime tracking, and bottleneck analysis. Ability to diagnose issues involving PLC logic, sensors, actuators, control panels, HMIs, and production equipment. Familiarity with plant-floor data collection, real-time reporting, and performance monitoring tools. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance technicians, manufacturing engineers, production supervisors, and operations teams. Knowledge of industrial safety practices, electrical controls, and manufacturing process improvement is preferred. Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
