About the role
Superintendent, Operations | Major BC Development | BC/AB
I'm working with a client advancing one of the largest undeveloped mineral deposits in Canada, currently progressing through Prefeasibility toward Major Regulatory Approval and Feasibility. This is set to become one of the most significant mining developments in the country, and they're looking for an Operations Superintendent to help build it from the ground up.
Why this role stands out
This isn't a role where you're inheriting someone else's systems. You'll be helping build the operational foundation — the standards, processes and leadership practices — that will carry this Project through feasibility, construction and into full operations. It's a rare chance to shape a mega-project before construction even begins.
What you'll be doing
✅ Leading safe, compliant, efficient execution of field activities ✅ Managing contractors in a complex, remote operating environment ✅ Acting as alternate Mine Manager under the BC Mines Act ✅ Building relationships across operations, engineering, environmental, regulatory and Indigenous Relations teams ✅ Developing frontline supervisors as the organization scales ✅ Transitioning into a rotational camp-based leadership role over the next 12–18 months as field activity ramps up
What we're looking for
🔹 10+ years of progressive operational leadership in mining, major civil construction, or resource development 🔹 Proven experience managing contractors in remote, complex environments 🔹 Strong safety leadership and regulatory compliance background 🔹 BC Mine Supervisor Certificate (required) 🔹 Shiftboss Open Pit Certificate — an asset 🔹 Helicopter-access field program experience — a bonus, not a must
The right fit
You've likely worked on large, sophisticated mining developments and know what world-class field operations look like. But just as important — you're excited by the idea of building systems and processes rather than just operating within ones that already exist. You're comfortable talking long-term strategy with senior leadership one day, and mentoring a frontline supervisor or solving a logistics problem the next.
Location: Hybrid transitioning to rotational camp-based site work.
Open to operational leaders from large open pit mining, major remote infrastructure/resource projects, or large mining contractors, based in BC or Alberta.
