About the role

Responsibilities:

As a 2SLGBTQ+ Recreational Group Facilitator, you will assist staff in the hosting of 2SLGBTQ+ recreation groups. These peer-led groups are open to anyone who identifies as 2SLGBTQ+ or as an ally. It’s a time to meet people and socialize. Activities are chosen together by volunteers and participants and include games, discussion topics and peer support.

Volunteers in this role must identify as part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This is an in-person group in Aurora.

Commitments to the role:

  • Adhere to CMHA’s written volunteer policies and procedures
  • Agree to a minimum of six months volunteer placement
  • Attend relevant meetings as needed
  • Attend volunteer schedule as agreed with staff supervisor
  • Be aware of and follow all health and safety procedures
  • Complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check
  • Inform supervisor immediately of concerns regarding the welfare of clients
  • Inform supervisor of incident(s) within 24 hrs
  • Inform supervisor of issues that might interfere with the running of the program.
  • Inform supervisor of issues that might interfere with volunteer placement or performance of volunteer role
  • Maintains confidentiality with respect to information about clients, family members and others
  • Adheres to CMHA’s written volunteer policies and procedures

The group runs on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6:00-8:00 PM at our Aurora location.
