About the role

12-month contract (with option to become full-time role) Position Description Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications, Marketing, and External Relations, the Communications and Digital Specialist plays a key role in advancing Yee Hong’s mission by delivering high-quality communications that strengthen engagement with residents, families, staff, and the broader community. Guided by Yee Hong’s values of WE CARE, WE COLLABORATE, and WE COMMIT, this role ensures that all communications reflect compassion, inclusivity, partnership, and accountability in support of residents, clients, families, and staff. Through a strong focus on storytelling and engagement, this role supports high-quality resident and client care, enhances the family experience, and fosters a connected and informed workforce. This role supports corporate priorities, including organizational growth, digital transformation, and operational excellence, by ensuring clear, consistent, and culturally responsive messaging across all platforms. The Specialist contributes to the development and execution of integrated communications and digital media plans that enhance Yee Hong’s brand, reputation, and community presence. The role also plays a critical part in supporting organizational change and transformation initiatives by delivering clear, timely, and engaging communications that drive awareness, understanding, and adoption across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong creative and visual communications expertise, the ability to develop engaging content, sound digital content production skills, and a high degree of attention to detail and quality assurance. As a highly motivated, exceptionally organized, and technically savvy individual, you will be responsible for providing end-to-end communications support through writing and content development, presentation development, event planning, logistics, and technical support, photography/videography, and more. As such, this role is ideal for a creative professional, strategic thinker, and skilled communicator with strong writing and digital skills and a passion for effective communications and storytelling. As the Communications and Digital Specialist at Yee Hong, you must be flexible and able to work independently, as well as in a team setting. As this role requires effective time management, you must be able to manage complex, competing, and multiple priorities and meet deadlines. You will also be required to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and political acuity. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communications and Content Development · Support the development and execution of internal and external communications plans aligned with and in support of Yee Hong’s Renewal and Performance Plan and organizational priorities. · Develop clear, engaging, and audience-focused content for a variety of platforms, including the website, intranet, and social media. · Translate complex information into accessible, plain-language communications that support understanding and engagement across diverse audiences. · Ensure consistency and alignment with Yee Hong’s brand, voice, and visual identity across all communications. Digital Communications and Engagement · Manage and maintain digital channels, including the website, intranet, and social media platforms, to build engagement, strengthen online communities, and increase brand awareness. · Apply digital best practices and compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). · Identify opportunities and provide recommendations to enhance digital effectiveness and user experiences across platforms. · Support enhancements to and the redesign of Yee Hong’s website, including content development, coordination, and brand alignment. Analytics and Continuous Improvement · Track, analyze, and report on communications and digital performance metrics (e.g., engagement, reach, campaign effectiveness). · Leverage insights and data to inform recommendations and continuously improve communications strategies and stakeholder engagement. Transformation and Change Support · Support communications for organizational transformation and change initiatives, including operational readiness for the new Yee Hong Ng Siu Chan Care Centre and digital enhancements, such as a new website. · Contribute to organizational readiness by developing communications that support awareness, engagement, and adoption of new initiatives and ways of working. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration · Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the organization, including leadership, front-line teams, physicians, volunteers, and the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, to ensure cohesive and on-brand communications. · Support relationships with external partners, agencies, vendors, and government stakeholders, as required. · Support talent attraction and employer branding initiatives through storytelling and digital campaigns aligned with Yee Hong’s Employee Value Proposition. Brand, Reputation and Community Presence · Support and uphold Yee Hong’s brand by ensuring consistency with communications and visual identity standards. · Contribute to proactive and responsive communications that strengthen organizational reputation and community trust. · Ensure communications reflect Yee Hong’s culturally inclusive approach and effectively engage diverse and multilingual communities. Events and Multimedia Support · Provide communications support for events, including planning, logistics, and technical coordination (e.g., townhalls). · Support photography and videography needs to enhance storytelling and digital engagement. · Design graphics for various uses across Yee Hong’s communications. Other · Provide after-hours support, as required, for events or priority communications. · Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications · Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Communications, or a related field. · Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated and progressive experience in communications and digital media, preferably in a complex or health-care environment. · Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences across multiple communications platforms. · Strong digital communications experience, including experience with websites, intranets, and social media platforms. · Experience with content management systems (e.g., Word Press, SharePoint) · Understanding and working knowledge of AODA and CASL requirements and ability to apply to digital assets. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Teams, and with creative tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva. · Knowledge of digital analytics tools and ability to identify, track, analyze, interpret, and report on metrics. · Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. · Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. · Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. · High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. · Experience in long-term care and/or health care is an asset. · Ability to travel between Yee Hong sites, as required. · Excellent team player and able to work independently and with direction.
