Job Description

AECOM Mississauga is seeking a Construction Manager (LRT Stations Boxes) to lead the day-to-day oversight of construction oversight, deep excavation, shoring, bracing, piling and structural concrete works for underground station boxes on the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project. This role manages construction execution monitoring and reporting across assigned zones, coordinates with consultants and contractors, and drives safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of complex underground works. The Construction Manager will work closely with Senior Construction Managers, quality and safety teams, and design engineers of record to resolve site-level issues and maintain progress against project milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Field Execution Oversight: Monitor and track daily station boxes activities, including excavation, shoring, tiebacks, waterproofing, and concrete placement.
  • Contractor Interface: Actively engage with client’s representative, contractor superintendents; clarify expectations and assist in resolving field-level challenges.
  • Work Sequencing & Logistics: Manage staging progress monitoring, access, and sequencing of works, check coordination efforts across trades and subcontractors.
  • Schedule Tracking: Monitor progress against critical path activities; develop client’s 2–4 week look-ahead with site teams; support recovery planning efforts if delays occur.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote safe construction practices; enforce compliance with project and regulatory safety requirements; intervene directly when unsafe conditions arise.
  • Quality Oversight: Review field works against design drawings, specifications, and inspection/test plans; document non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Stakeholder & Utility Coordination: facilitate interface with municipalities, utility providers, and Metrolinx oversight representatives on field impacts, road closures, and protection works.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, risk logs, and field documentation to support delivery partner and client reporting.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify emerging risks (e.g., ground stability, dewatering, schedule impacts) and escalate as needed to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of field experience in large-scale underground transit or civil projects, with direct oversight of excavation and station box works.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally 10+ years of field experience in large-scale underground transit or civil projects, with direct oversight of excavation and station box works.
  • Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, PMP) considered an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge of deep excavation, shoring systems, and structural concrete works.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead site teams, coordinate multiple subcontractors, and manage work sequencing in constrained urban environments.
  • Proficiency in construction reporting, scheduling tools, and safety/quality systems.

Measure of Success

  • Safe and efficient delivery of station box excavation and structural works to design and schedule requirements.
  • Effective coordination with contractors and subcontractors, minimizing conflicts and delays
  • Proactive identification and resolution of site-level risks and constructability challenges
  • Clear and consistent field reporting supporting project governance and decision-making.
  • Strong alignment with Metrolinx oversight expectations and community requirements.
