Position Overview:
The analyst will work on addressing product and process issues to ensure compliance to Home Depot and regulatory requirements, improving the quality and overall customer experience for Home Depot private branded products. The analyst will perform the above by leveraging data inclusive of product returns, product damage, damage markdown, online star rating performance, and customer care complaints. Partnering with internal teams, and under the guidance of the QA Manager, the analyst will manage/complete benchmarking, product specification, and resolution of product performance concerns for assigned product categories.

This individual, with the assistance of the QA manager, will work to identify and partner with cross-functional team members in addressing issues arising from failed product testing, inspections, factory audits, and/or product returns. The analyst will follow established processes to ensure supplier and factory compliance to relevant requirements as outlined in Home Depot Standard Operating Procedures, contracts, supplier buying agreements, and purchase orders. The analyst will drive continuous improvements through the issuance of corrective/preventative action plans and ensure they are implemented throughout each process. In addition, the analyst will work to action issues on vendor performance that drive quality improvement and speed to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive supplier quality improvement programs.
  • Work on quality improvement of key categories based on RTV (Return to Vendor) and Star rating information analysis.
  • Guide supplier on CAPA (Corrective Action and Preventive Action).
  • Report out quality improvement findings with data analysis tools.
  • Engineering project management including benchmarking, product requirement development, and test protocol development, under the guidance of the QA Manager.
  • Work to familiarize themselves on test standards and certification, apply related standard for benchmark testing and keep testing protocol up to latest regulatory requirement.
  • Manage the testing in onboarding and keeping it on track by taking the necessary steps with regards to engagement with suppliers and service providers in addressing test failures.
  • Continually provide testing progress to identify high risk program and make sure speed to market.
  • Examine solution options for product quality issues.
  • Understand quality processes, which include but are not limited to, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Control, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control plans, and how they impact the manufacturing process.
  • Develop / validate test and inspection plans designed to assure quality of factories and products based on a review of all applicable safety standards (such as American National Standards Institute or Underwriters Laboratories), industry trends, and historical performance data.
  • Work with supplier to establish a structured approach for consistency and adherence to quality procedures and requirements.
  • Point of contact for supplier activities directed toward process control and quality assurance of sourced products.
  • Oversee and provide direction towards audits, pre-shipment inspections, quality complaints, with service providers and suppliers.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the US and ASO QA & PE teams to leverage product/process improvements and best practices.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated manufacturing knowledge in areas such as plastics, metals, glass, wood, textiles and Printed Circuit boards
  • Computer skills sufficient to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data
  • Have knowledge in understanding product specifications, validating products to specifications and examining results to show compliance to specifications and or industry standards. (e.g., flammability regulation and test standard)
  • Continuous improvement program development and execution (e.g., Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing)
  • Working knowledge of Excel (pivot tables), Power Point
  • Knowledge of GBQ, SQL, VB, and SAP would be preferred

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • Reports to QA Manager

Travel Requirements:

  • 10% travel to stores and other facilities as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable

Minimum Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Work Experience

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 2-3 years, with experience with quality and engineering processes, standards development, review, and enforcement is preferred

Minimum Leadership Experience:

  • N/A

  • College or University Degree, field of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar educational background
