About the role

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Site Security Professional at a leading healthcare facility in Northern BC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor entry points and control access to the healthcare facility, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for authorized personnel.
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including interior and exterior areas, to deter unauthorized access and identify potential security threats.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards.
- Follow established protocols for emergency situations, such as lockdown procedures or evacuation drills, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a calm and respectful manner, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns to maintain a peaceful environment.
- Utilize effective de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent escalation to violence.
- Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity and potential security breaches.
- Document all security-related incidents and observations accurately, completing incident reports and notifying appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Collaborate with other healthcare staff, including nurses, physicians, and administrative personnel, to address security concerns and coordinate responses to emergencies.
- Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, such as law enforcement agencies and emergency responders, to facilitate a coordinated approach to security incidents.
Requirements:
- Valid BC Security Guard License
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals in a healthcare setting
- Previous experience in security, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure
- Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation
- Ability to complete detailed reports, multi-task, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must undergo a criminal background check
- Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, or Law Enforcement is an asset
