About the role

Job description:

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, networks, and related infrastructure. Your primary focus will be ensuring the integrity and security of data, network access, and system backups. You will collaborate with other IT professionals to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement new solutions to meet the organization's evolving needs.

Additionally, Systems Administrators are often involved in system upgrades, backups, disaster recovery planning, and implementing security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and malware attacks. They may also collaborate with other IT professionals, such as network engineers and software developers, to integrate systems and optimize performance.

What You'll Do:

  • System Maintenance: Regularly monitor and track system performance and ensure all systems operate efficiently. Maintain a record of tracked performance records and system-impacting events. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
  • Network Management: Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs to the level allowed by the customer contract. Troubleshoot and collaborate with customer resources for network issues and ensure network security protocols are up to date.
  • Data Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats. Monitor security logs, conduct regular security audits, and verify adherence to customer and AGFA policies.
  • User Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner, resolve problems effectively, and ensure escalations are initiated when needed.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in the event of system failures or disasters. Test backup systems regularly to ensure reliability.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures. Keep documentation up to date as systems evolve.
  • Customer-facing role that will work closely with other IT team members, including system administrators, network engineers, bio-med engineers, and security specialists, to implement new technologies and resolve complex issues. Ensure systems and processes comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, such as HIPAA, GDPR, or PCI-DSS. Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary updates or changes.

What You'll bring (Qualifications):

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and IT infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools, backup and recovery solutions, and security systems (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of networking, operating systems, and software applications are essential for success in this role. Additionally, effective communication skills are important for interacting with users and conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • 5-7 Years Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and IT infrastructure.
  • 4+ Years of Linux Administration.

Recommended Licenses/Certifications:

  • AWS Certification Path: Cloud Practitioner & SysOps Administrator.
