The Corporate Services Division within the Ministry of Finance is seeking one multi-skilled professional for the position of Planning and Policy Consultant.

About Us:

Planning and Policy Services is a dynamic, proactive team within the Corporate Services Division. We lead the ministry’s planning, budgeting, and reporting cycle, including the development of the long-term strategic plan, ministry budget, public business plan, and internal area plans. We monitor and report on results to ensure accountability and transparency, while driving improvement and innovation through project and change management support. Our team also coordinates reporting and communication efforts, provides guidance on corporate policy development and maintenance, and oversees culture and engagement committee activities to align with ministry priorities and engagement metrics.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Policy Services, the Consultant will:

  • Support the development and renewal of strategic and annual plans by gathering inputs, facilitating planning discussions, and monitoring and communicating progress;
  • Manage and coordinate reporting and accountability activities across the ministry, including the development of internal and external reports;
  • Coordinate materials for the ministry’s annual budget submission, working with key stakeholders to gain insight on ministry risks, emerging trends, and strategic priorities;
  • Maintain and support the development of corporate policies across the ministry, communicating key changes to stakeholders;
  • Facilitate and build capacity in divisions and branches to engage in improvement, evaluation, and innovation initiatives on programs, services and processes;
  • Provide project and change management expertise in the development and execution of ministry strategies and initiatives; and
  • Support the coordination of the ministry’s committees' actions and governance to promote a positive workplace culture.

The ability to manage processes and projects to achieve high quality results is an asset in this position. The successful candidate will demonstrate superior verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and exhibit a “one team” service-oriented approach.

Typically, the knowledge for this position would be obtained through a university degree in business administration/public administration or related field and applicable experience, or equivalent.
