Job Title: Senior Production Geologist Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Geology, the Senior Production Geologist is an integral member of the production geology team, it is a technical and operational role that delivers open pit selective mining practices. The position is responsible for short- and medium-term RC grade control planning, grade control model development, blast movement integration, ML/ARD modeling, and geological data management to drive high-precision mining, uphold regulatory compliance, and optimize ore recovery and dilution control.

This role requires a self-motivated and experienced production geologist with strong technical expertise and a collaborative, team-focused approach. Working closely with the Superintendent, Mine Geology, the Senior Production Geologist develops and integrates grade control and ML/ARD models into practical operational execution, supporting consistent delivery of geological excellence across site activities.

Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To) Geological Modeling & Reconciliation

  • Maintain and refine short-range geological models and grade control models to support ore classification and ML/ARD segregation.
  • Reconcile production data against models, identify trends, and support the Superintendent in optimizing selective mining and model performance.
  • Develop and implement geological mapping programs to capture data for reconciliation, short-term and resource model updates.

Grade Control & Selective Mining Execution

  • Lead daily grade control activities including RC grade control drilling, ore-waste boundary delineation and validation.
  • Collaborate with Mine Operations to align dig plans and material routing with geological boundaries and binning strategies.
  • Manage material movement tracking, grade binning, and stockpiling procedures integrated within the fleet management system to optimize ore control and ML/ARD segregation.

Data Management & QA/QC

  • Oversee sampling systems and QA/QC programs for grade and ML/ARD data in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Compile and validate data inputs from Ore Body Model, grade control drilling, survey scans, blast movement monitoring, field samples and drillhole samples for use in overall material management.
  • Apply data analytics to support reconciliation, geo metallurgical studies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor, and train geologists and geo-technicians in field and technical activities.
  • Foster collaboration across geology, operations, and technical services to achieve selective mining and ML/ARD compliance objectives.
  • Work directly with on-site and third party Assay Lab on sample testing, prioritization, preparation and data reconciliation.

Safety & Operational Excellence

  • Champion Skeena’s safety culture in all geology-led field activities.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks to ensure safe execution of drilling, sampling, and mapping programs.

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Superintendent and site geology objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Registered as P.Geo. with EGBC
  • 7-10 years’ experience in open-pit production geology.
  • Proven expertise in geological modeling, grade control, and resource modeling, with a strong focus on selective mining practices.
  • Experience in RC drill program planning and implementation.
  • Proficiency with Leapfrog, Deswik, Vulcan, or equivalent modeling software.
  • Strong technical, communication, and leadership skills; able to provide clear direction and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Effective planning, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Work Location & Conditions This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace airport, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation The expected salary range for this position is CA$125,000- CA$155,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
