What will you do?
- On a daily basis, this IT asset management position must triage, monitor and independently manage their work activities and service requests, assessing criticality of calls, prioritizing work and managing their work schedule. These service requests may come from any City of Edmonton employee
- This position frequently must work on tight timelines and under pressure to analyze needs and issues, make recommendations, deliver solutions and solve problems
- Develop, maintain, and optimize service level delivery and Service Level Agreements with customer areas. Coordinate service level escalations with internal and external technology support teams and vendors as appropriate
- Perform service delivery on IT hardware solutions, designing and recommending effective action plans that support the operational needs and business requirements. This includes designing, planning and providing on-going support related to desktop, laptop, network, server, storage IT services
- Develops and performs operational procedures on IT desktop and infrastructure hardware systems and services. Contributes to maintenance, installation and problem resolution
- Manage and maintain accurate and timely IT desktop and infrastructure inventory records, refresh cycles within scope, budget, and schedule (coordinate all related activities)
- Consult and advise City employees on solutions to software and hardware issues encountered during the refresh cycle
- Advise on continual operational process improvements and the identification of cost savings within the end-to-end procedure
- Primary lead or representative for IT Asset Management (or related) projects that involve IT hardware and infrastructure devices
- Coordinate the acquisition of standard IT hardware and infrastructure devices and related services, ensuring all requests are filled in accordance with City of Edmonton standards
- Other related duties
Qualifications:
- Completion of an appropriate Diploma or certification program from an approved business school/college. Completion of grade 12 or GED is required with the completion of the certificate program (a minimum of 700+ instructional hours)
- A minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience with a diploma OR;
- A minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience with a certificate in the program area or in automated business process support
Assets:
- Advanced skillset using Google Business Apps
- IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience
- Experience using Remedy v20 and above (for service and/or asset management)
- ITIL Foundations Certified
- IAITAM Certified
Skills required for success:
- Excellent communication skills - capable of communicating clearly, in writing and verbally, in a customer service environment
- Experienced in Service delivery in an organization with a significant number of IT Hardware and Infrastructure devices deployed or in an area where there are many IT services to manage
- Tactful and conscientious as this position is following up on behalf of the customers. They need to manage customer expectations and get work performed through other groups and people
- Working knowledge of IT Hardware and Infrastructure hardware/software vendors, manufacturers, their products and licensing
- Able to work both independently and as part of a larger, multi-specialty customer service focused technical team
- Proven research ability
- Implementation/Execution: Good at organizing and managing daily service priorities with longer term projects and activities by using appropriate methodologies and tools
- Innovate: Able to contribute to new ideas and processes that improve performance and productivity
- Problem Solver: Analytical and logical with the ability to encourage others in collaborative problem solving. Acting as both a broker and consultant regarding resources, engage others in problem solving
- Google Productivity Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets) working knowledge
Work Environment:
- Note**:** This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
