Apprentice Mechanic JOB POSTING ID 25E-43 The Corporation of the City of North Bay is accepting applications for the position of an Apprentice Mechanic within the Corporation of the City of North Bay’s Fleet Department. Under the direction of the Fleet Technician Chargehand, and the guidance of a Fleet Technician, the apprentice will perform basic mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance to municipal and fire department equipment and vehicles in accordance with the Apprenticeship Training Standards developed by Skilled Trades Ontario.
Selection Criteria
- Grade 12 Education or successfully completed an academic standard prescribed for the regulations by the trade.
- Must work towards obtaining a valid Ontario Class “T” Mechanic’s License within specified guidelines.
- Must possess mechanical aptitude.
- Must work towards obtaining a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement.
- Must be eligible to participate in the Ontario Apprenticeship Program registered with Skilled Trades Ontario.
- Valid 310S Automotive Service Technician License an asset
Environment: Unionized Duration: Permanent Full-Time Hourly Rate $26.39 to $33.93 per hour Payment of school time hours during the Day Release Program will be made in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Local 122 Collective Agreement. The City will also provide an initial, one-time, up-front tool allowance in the amount of $1,000 to the Apprentice in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
