About the role
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). First Aid Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Flatbed. Liquid bulk. Logging, highway. Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Tractor-trailer. Tractor-trailer B train. Communication systems experience: Citizens band (CB) radio. Trip recorder (on-board computer).
