Description
The Core Firmware team is seeking an engineering manager to lead a team of systems
software engineers responsible for extending and improving the system services and language
runtimes for the Apple firmware ecosystem. These OS-style runtime services are used by
other teams to develop the firmwares that run the rich set of embedded cores that are part of
every Apple SoC. As a leader of this team, you will partner with the leaders of other teams to
manage current and future requirements that those teams have, with the goal of ensuring that
the firmware ecosystem can support those requirements well ahead of system bring-up for
future products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with experts in multiple
technology areas, including microkernels, system security, computer languages, introspection
technologies, and many more.
Preferred Qualifications
BS in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of modern processor architectures and supporting hardware
Experience with real-time operating systems
Minimum Qualifications
Experience leading a software-development team
Experience with firmware, device-driver, and/or kernel-level development
Proven track record of delivering software aligned with project and program schedules
History of setting aggressive yet attainable goals and motivating teams to achieve them
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $191,500 and $287,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple Inc.'s discretionary employee stock programs. Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit award recommendations, and can purchase Apple Inc. stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple Inc.'s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
