Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Centre for Accessible Learning for Student Support Services, the incumbent is an integral team member linking Student Support Services with Algonquin’s apprenticeship programs through the Apprenticeship Support Centre. The incumbent is responsible for providing comprehensive clerical and reception services to the Apprenticeship Support Centre (ASC). In doing so, the ASC Officer will work collaboratively with other members of the ASC team, CAL, and Faculty and Administrators from Apprenticeship programs to contribute to a network of support for students. They will also assist students to navigate and access the services and resources available to students.

The incumbent is also responsible for the coordination and invigilation of accommodated tests and exams for students registered with an apprenticeship program. The incumbent has a working knowledge of the CAL Database (Clockwork) and is required to support first time users in navigating the online test booking system.

The ASC Officer will also provide troubleshooting and technical support for Assistive Technology as well as connecting students to the full resources of the CAL AT Lab.

The ASC Officer is very often the first point of contact for both Student Support Services and the College for Apprenticeship students and is responsible to set a positive, supportive and professional tone in interactions with all clients. The incumbent must be able to support students in a manner that respects the sensitivity and confidentiality of much of the student the information disclosed in the execution of their role.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three (3) year diploma: Business Administration, Office Administration or other related programs;
  • Three (3) years practical experience in a "high demand" client-service setting in an educational institution or equivalent experience in a similar setting;
  • Experience in an educational setting, preferably working with students with disabilities;
  • Work experience in a complex detail-oriented, customer service driven computerized office setting;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or certification in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Anticipated Weekly Schedule: Will be determined upon hire.
