Facilities Maintenance Technician / Technical Trainer Location: North Bay, ON

Department: North Warning System Support Centre (NWSSC)

Security Clearance Required: Secret

Reports To: Facilities Maintenance Manager

Hours: 40 hours/week

About Nasittuq Corporation Nasittuq Corporation (Inuktitut for “looking out from the highest point”) operates and maintains the North Warning System (NWS) —a critical Canada-US radar network with 47 sites across Northern Canada. The NWS provides continuous aerospace surveillance to detect airborne threats in the northern region.

  • 24/7 NORAD Operations Support: Remote monitoring and control of all radar sites

Position Summary As a Facilities Maintenance Technician / Trainer , you will provide hands-on technical support and training for facilities systems across the North Warning System. This includes HVAC, electrical distribution, power generation, water/sewage, and fire suppression systems. You’ll also develop and deliver training programs to ensure technicians are equipped to maintain system reliability in remote and challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot facilities systems: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, water/sewage, and fire suppression
  • Provide remote technical support to technicians at northern radar sites and in North Bay/Ottawa
  • Develop and update technical training programs based on equipment changes and operational needs
  • Create training materials: presentations, worksheets, manuals
  • Deliver training sessions: in-person, webinars, workshops
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards

Qualifications Education

  • Completion of a postsecondary program in electromechanical systems or Canadian Forces military equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Experience in technical training development and delivery is an asset

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of building electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and structural systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and commercial test equipment
