Position Overview You are an experienced Corporate LIT professional with a passion for client services and market oriented mindset.

As a Senior Manager in our Corporate Restructuring practice, you will lead client relationships and collaborate with nationally recognized insolvency leaders on complex, high impact mandates across British Columbia.

As Senior Manager, Restructuring, you will be responsible for: Service Delivery:

  • Leading and managing statutory corporate insolvency engagements from initial consultation through discharge,
  • Providing exceptional client service with a focus on communication, quality and adherence to statutory responsibilities, while managing a portfolio of complex corporate restructuring files
  • Reporting to creditors, stakeholders and the Court, including the preparation, editing and proofing of key correspondence, Court reports and letters to stakeholders
  • Filing various documents with the Court and the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Hands-on role on file engagements including possession/control matters, communicating with stakeholders, attending to file issues on an as needed basis and developing resolutions
  • Tracking file progress, milestones and deadlines, reviewing invoices, preparing payments and handling trust account duties in consultation with our estate administrator and junior team members
  • Managing team members, directing what work is to be done, how and when it is to be completed and being accountable for the outcome of such work
  • Assuming full accountability for the management and execution of files to ensure brand excellence
  • Maintaining professional competence and staying current in all technical and legal elements of a corporate restructuring practice, while adhering to all firm risk management policies to minimize risk exposure

Business Development:

  • Actively participate in the team’s business development efforts, including working collaboratively with senior leadership, partners, and marketing professionals to target and build relationships with client prospects.
  • Improving the operational results of the Restructuring practice by developing and maintaining productive relationships with clients from a variety of disciplines
  • Contribute to new business development by identifying broader needs of our existing clients, and prospective clients through cross-collaboration and interaction with other Doane Grant Thornton LLP services
  • Maintaining positive relationships with other corporate restructuring professionals including lawyers and representatives of lending institutions. Enjoys the social aspect of marketing to key targets.
  • Taking an active role in industry organizations, events and firm marketing initiatives

  • Completion, or nearing completion, of a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) Qualification Program and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT)
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s or advanced level degree (Masters) or professional accounting designation (CPA)

Experience and Attributes:

  • 5+ years of advisory experience in a Canadian professional services firm, leading and conducting complex corporate restructuring and insolvency proceedings, or equivalent professional experience
  • Insolvency Expertise: Possess comprehensive knowledge of all insolvency proceedings
  • Financial Acumen: Understands key performance indicators and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in File Acquisition/File Administration and File Closure
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills for stakeholder communication, report writing for Court and look-see business overview reports.
  • Actively participate in professional, industry or community organizations events
  • Expand brand reach: Develop connections with bankers, lawyers, trustees, and other potential referral sources to promote firm
  • Ethical Compliance: Uphold the firm’s ethical standards and code of conduct for Trustees
  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to be an active participant in the development of the team and the broader Advisory practice
  • Develop solutions with clients and co-workers through collaborative effort and discussion
  • Commitment to quality, excellence, and continual professional growth for yourself and for those you lead
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including exceptional interpersonal skills to earn the trust and confidence of clients and colleagues at all levels and influence decision-makers
  • Desire to learn and grow, and be an integral part of a team that puts “we before me”, where agility is a mindset, and where you trust your colleagues to have your back

Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors— your background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity . To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $118,000–$178,000 in Vancouver . If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
